8-27-16 Micro-story (prompt word: collapsed)

“Another day, another 79 cents to your dollar,” Marla collapsed onto the couch and threw her arms over her face.
“I know, honey,” Robert moved her legs, sat down beside her, and started rubbing her feet. “Now how about I go into the kitchen and make you a sandwich?”
“Okay, what do you want?” She cracked open one eye.
“Atlantic City with the guys this weekend?”
“Will you still make me that sandwich?
“Yes.”
“Done.”

(I hope you enjoyed this morning’s story. I write these micro-stories from a prompt word in one minute. I can edit as much as I want after the one minute but the bones have to be there before the alarm rings. This one ended up being mostly dialog, which is a fun exercise. I did this same, “micro-story a day” skill-building project in 2010. It revolutionized my writing and prompted the development of my “Flash Your Fiction” workshop for writers. To see the stories from that project, go here.”)
