9-3 Micro-story (prompt word: meme)

“Huh? ‘Hang on, baby. Friday’s coming?’” Jessica tilted her head at the frayed poster of a kitten hanging from a tree branch.
“Just take it down and don’t worry about it,” Davis admonished his sister. “Mom said we have to have grandma’s room cleaned out before we leave.”
“Okay,” Jessica agreed. “But, what does it mean?”
“It’s a meme, but like, from the last century.”

(I hope you enjoyed today’s story. I write these micro-stories from a prompt word in one minute. I can edit as much as I want after the one minute, but the bones have to be there before the alarm rings.

The bones of this came to me in a flash, but figuring out how to refer to the meme on paper rather than as a digital product hurt my head. 🙂

I did this same, “micro-story a day” skill-building project in 2010. It revolutionized my writing and prompted the development of my “Flash Your Fiction” workshop for writers. To see the stories from that project, go here.”)
