Sixty-Second Story 8-12-16

Marius checked his list as he faced the last house on this evening’s Summoning. He knocked on the shabby, oak door three times.
“I’ve come to collect the children,” Marius heard himself say.
“No, no, I beg you,” she clung to her babies as they shuffled towards the tall Summoner.
“Do not beg,” he whispered through tear-filled eyes. “It did my mother no good either.”
